Experience

Experience of conceiving, bidding, negotiating and securing grant funding from organisations including the UK Space Agency, the European Space Agency and Innovate UK (the UK’s innovation funding body) to enable companies to develop a range of analytics and insights products derived from high resolution Earth Observation satellite imagery.

Over £60m GBP worth of grants, contracts and extensions secured over a 20-year career spanning small start-up and large multi-national enterprises.

Experience of managing several grant-funded project and R&D contracts from kick-off through to satisfactory completion, including responsibility for client relationship management; project planning and reporting; project financial tracking and invoicing; preparation of deliverable documentation; holding progress meetings and milestone review meetings; and negotiating extensions and contract changes. 

Projects have included development of Earth Observation applications for different end-user sectors; development of analytics using AI and machine learning applied to satellite data; exploration of new use cases for satellite imaging; delivery of manpower resources for on-site operations; development and maintenance of ground systems for satellite data processing and dissemination; and much more. 

Experience of providing consultancy to major public sector and governmental organisations.  Experience of chairing a number of industrial committees and working groups in the UK and the EU to help foster growth in the satellite Earth Observation industry sector.  Experience of contributing to the development of industrial position papers and presenting industry positions at major conferences and events.
